From Mona Ehnes, MTVRA
On Saturday, July 22, 15 members of the Friends of the Little Belts met at the upper Pilgrim Creek trailhead to help improve the trail surface and install drainage structures. The group using horses began their clearing work from the lower Pilgrim Creek trailhead.
The work occurred in the first two miles and was a cooperative effort between motorized and non-motorized users of the Little Belts mountain range. A barbeque was held after work was done. Albertsons of Great Falls donated the food for the barbeque. (Thank you Albertsons, we appreciate your support.)
Other member groups present were: Montana Wilderness Association Island Chapter, Charley Russell Backcountry Horsemen, Silver Crest Trails Association, Cascade County 4 Wheelers, US Forest Service Belt Creek Ranger Station, Montana Trail Vehicle Riders Association and the Great Falls Bicycle Club.
We held a general membership meeting at the Fish, Wildlife & Parks headquarters meeting room on August 31st. Plans for a work day to coincide with National Public Lands Day, September 30th, was the topic of the day. The website has been updated and is in operation. Check out www.friendsoflittlebelts.com.
