Barrasso introduces McCarthy Bill in the Senate

Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) introduced legislation (S. 1087) in the Senate that would release wilderness study areas no longer considered appropriate for wilderness designation. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) introduced the same legislation (H.R. 1581) earlier in the House of Representatives. The legislation would release all Wilderness Study Areas (WSAs) and Inventoried Roadless Areas (IRAs), which have been recommended or evaluated as not suitable for wilderness designation by either the Bureau of Land Management or the Forest Service. The release of such lands would allow for multiple-use management. See ARRA Newsletter
