Citizens for Balanced Use just completed a state wide conference that was held at the Copper King Inn in Butte, Montana this past weekend. The 2 day event brought together 32 organizations from around Montana, Arizona and Idaho. The “Networking for Success” conference was a huge success with the attending organizations committing to working together as partners to urge federal land managers to implement active management practices on the public lands in Montana.

 

Fires that erupt every year in Montana because of public land mismanagement by the Forest Service and BLM were discussed.  Unanimous support by all the groups, against HR 1975 Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act, was heard time after time during the conference.

 

The commitment by such a large diverse group of organizations to work together will be the beginning of a partnership that until now has been nonexistent. Natural resource, agriculture and recreation organizations found that the issues they each face are very similar and working together in support of each other will make a difference.
